Digital Photos: 2025Nothing is Certain
Nothing is Certain depicts my vague feelings of what the future holds for me through self-portraiture. These images convey the haziness of what life might look like after I graduate from college. I am numbed by life’s expectations and what my future will entail. To me, all of these expectations feel heavy because of the uncertainty of what lies ahead.
This series shows my feelings of brain fog and detachment through intangible settings. A painterly feeling is portrayed using elements that symbolize different aspects of my adult life by making them appear puzzling, nebulous, and mysterious. Muted colors and various line movements also signify my feelings of cloudiness. Milestones and events in life that are expected to happen are depicted, emphasizing my unclear thoughts of my future. I am void of emotions with distant feelings, which I am conveying through these self-portraitures, wondering, when I will find clarity? Overall, these photos display the notion that Nothing is Certain.
